Auto Parts / CTK5029,-1,-4 COOLANT TEST KITS
CTK5029 contains material for ■ Easy to read, color-coded
approximately 50 tests. chart indicates the condition
of the SCA and proper
■ One-step test for freeze point, action to be taken.
nitrite and molybdate levels.
■ Accurate freeze point
■ No mixing or measuring of reading of both ethylene or
coolant required. propylene glycol.
CTK5029, CTK5029-1, CTK5029-4 FLEETSTRIP TEST PROCEDURE
1. Collect coolant sample from the radiator or petcock. DO NOT
collect from the coolant recovery or overflow system. Coolant
must be between 50°F and 130°F when tested.
2. Remove one strip from bottle and replace cap immediately. DO
NOT touch the pads on the end of the strip. DISCARD KIT IF
UNUSED STRIPS HAVE TURNED BROWN.
3. Dip strip in coolant sample for one second, remove and shake
strip briskly to remove excess liquid.
4. 45 SECONDS after dipping strip compare and record results in
the following order:
a) Compare FREEZE POINT (end pad) to color chart and record result.
b) Next compare SODIUM MOLYBDATE (middle pad) to color chart and
record result.
c) Finally compare SODIUM NITRITE test to color chart and record result.
5. All three readings must be completed NO LATER THAN 75
SECONDS after dipping strip.
6. It is okay to estimate a value between color blocks, if uncertain
about the color match, estimate towards the lighter color block.
7. Determine on the chart in which color zone the SODIUM
MOLYBDATE level intersects the SODIUM NITRITE level, and
follow treatment instructions below accordingly.
8. For best results follow test times carefully. Use a stopwatch
or clock with a sweep second hand. Comparing the test strip
to the color chart too soon before, or too late after, the
required test time will result in incorrect readings and
improper treatment – and could result in liner pitting and
engine damage.
9. All readings should be recorded on the maintenance record for
future reference.
TREATMENT INSTRUCTIONS
(Yellow) - Replace service filter and add 1 pint of SCA liquid per 4 gallons of coolant.
(Green) - Continue to replace service coolant filter at each drain interval.
(1 pt liquid/16 gallons)
(Red) - Do not replace service filter. Use filter without chemical until SCA
level falls into green area of chart. Test at every oil change
interval.
