                                    Installation
                                          SPIN-ON FILTER INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS
    
    
    
    
    
                                    An  increasing  number  of  motorists  today  are  performing  oil  and  filter  changes  on  their  cars.
                                    However,  present  installation  instructions  vary  from  manufacturer  to  manufacturer,  and  may  be
                                    confusing to the installer.
    
                                    These instructions may be used in changing any spin-on oil filter.
    
                                                                          1. Clean base.
                                                                              Unscrew and  remove old  filter. Be sure
                                                                              old  gasket  is  removed  with  filter.  Wipe
                                                                              filter mounting base with clean cloth.
    
    
    
    
                                                                          2. Apply clean oil to gasket.
                                                                              Apply thin film of clean motor oil to new
                                                                              filter gasket. Do not use grease.
    
    
    
                                                                          3. Spin-on to gasket contact.
                                                                              Line up threads carefully to avoid cross-
                                                                              threading. Spin new filter on until gasket
                                                                              contacts base.
    
    
    
    
                                                                          4. Tighten additional turns.
                                                                              Tighten filter the required number of turns
                                                                              beyond gasket contact. Important - Follow
                                                                              instructions of filter manufacturer (usually
                                                                              found  on  filter)  for  final  tightening.  This
                                                                              example shows to tighten filter 1 turn past
                                                                              gasket contact. This may be different for
                                                                              other filters.
    
    
    
                                                                          5. No leaks.
                                                                              Be  sure  oil  shows  full  on  dipstick.  Start
                                                                              engine  and  check  for  leaks.  Correct
                                                                              source  of  any  leaks  observed.  Shut  off
                                                                              engine.  Re-check  oil  level.  Add  oil  if
                                                                              necessary.
    
    
    
    
                                                                          6. Inspect for dents.
                                                                              Important  –  Do  not  use  filter  if  it  is
                                                                              dented.
