4 BPW Air bags

General

Air bag with splitted piston (Combi-Air bag)
A combination air bag is divided into two parts: The air

O bag is bolted onto the vehicle frame with the rolling piston
while the centring cone is connected to the trailing arm
or integrated to the spring seats.
SL When the trailer is lifted, the axle and the cone move
downwards. The movement is restricted by the shock
absorbers.
AL However, the air bag remains in its rest position. When
the trailer is lowered to the ground, the air bag and
centring cone once more come together.
AC The bag can neither fold nor crease.

Stroke limiting
The upward travel is restricted by a bump stop inside the

air bag. The downward travel must be restricted under

certain application conditions.

Air supply

The pressure needed during driving is applied via a

compressed air line that is connected to the air bag via
the threaded sleeve (M 22 x 1.5) welded into the air bag
cover or via a hollow stud (M 18 x 1.5 / M 20 x 1.5).
